Blazers' GM Jolted, Ducks Drafted, Rutschman's All Star Debut

NBA:

Portland Trail Blazers General Manager Joe Cronin says he wasn't surprised with star guard Damian Lillard’s requested trade, but it was a jolt when it happened.

At a news conference in Las Vegas Monday, Cronin said he's frustrated he wasn't able to build a team that Lillard feels could win a championship now. "The effort being there which it was, that’s one thing but actually following through and getting that result is another, and, to that extent, I do feel like I failed Dame.”

Cronin says a team with Jerami Grant, Matisse Thybulle, and Shaedon Sharpe has the potential to be “win-now” soon.

He hasn't lost hope, and Cronin says he wouldn't be surprised if something different happens than they were originally expecting.

The Blazers take on Charlotte in Summer League game 3 Tuesday in Las Vegas at 5:30. Scoot Henderson, the 3rd pick overall, will sit out with an injured shoulder.
