Elks Drop Series To Knights, UO & OSU Football Camps, Bend North Softball LLWS

 College Football:

The University of Oregon and Oregon State start training camps this week. It will be with swirling rumors about the fate of the Pac 12. On Friday Oregon State issued a statement supporting the conference in the wake of Colorado leaving for the Big 12. This weekend conflicting reports said the U of O could be going to the Big 10 or Big 12 next season, and the announcement could come over the next 2 weeks. Washington, Utah, Arizona, and Arizona State were also included in reports as schools that could be switching conferences. The Ducks 2023 camp starts Wednesday. Today is media day. Oregon State’s camp opener is Thursday.

NFL:

Seattle Seahawks saw injuries sideline their 2 young running backs at training camp this weekend. Kenneth Walker, a runner up for the offensive rookie of the year last season has a groin problem, and this year’s 2nd round pick Zach Charbonet has a shoulder issue. No timeline was given for either  R-B to return to practice.

MLB:

San Francisco won their series over Boston winning 4 to 2 in 11 innings yesterday. The Giants at 58 and 48 are in 2nd place, 2 games behind the Dodgers, and first place in the wildcard. Now S F can put some distance between them and Arizona who is two games back in the NL West.  First pitch against the Diamondbacks is at 6:45

Seattle shut out the Diamondbacks yesterday 4 to nothing behind another solid performance from Luis Castillo. The Mariners are 54 and 51, winners of 4 of their last 5, but the big question remains if they’re going to try to compete or toss in the towel at the trade deadline tomorrow..
