Lanning Downplays Buffs' Departure, Ducks Legacy Verbally Commits, Elks v Springfield Starts

College Football:

The University of Oregon media day saw football coach Dan Lanning downplay Colorado leaving the Pac 12… Prompted by a question the coach asked what the Buffaloes have won since becoming a member of the conference,  then answered the question himself saying he didn’t remember anything. Media day came ahead of the Ducks opening of fall camp tomorrow.

Oregon also received the verbal commitment of Akili Smith, Jr. for the 2025 season. The four-star quarterback is the son of Akili Smith who played for the Ducks in the late  ‘90s and was the number 3 overall pick in the 1999 Draft. Smith Jr. is a number one ranked dual-threat quarterback in his recruiting class.
