Pac 12 Upheaval, OSU Football Fall Camp, Elks Win Series

College Football:

Oregon and Washington were approved by Big 10 schools’ leaders to have conference officials explore expanding with the Pacific Northwest schools. The Ducks and Huskies have been mentioned joining the Wolverines and Buckeyes in the same conference for over a year. Now that seems closer to reality. The time has come for more upheaval within the conference of champions. Oregon State and Washington State could move to the Mountain West in another scenario if the Pac-However many can’t stay cohesive enough. Arizona, Arizona State and Utah could also leave the conference.

All of that is at least a season away though…

Oregon State opened camp yesterday with high expectations after a 10 win season and bowl victory last year. They will lean on their running game and have a quarterback battle in camp with transfer D J Uiagalelei and Ben Gulbranson.

NFL:

The Seattle Seahawks had some good news at camp yesterday…Running back Zach Charbonnet returned to practice after sitting out with a sore shoulder. Running Back Kenneth Walker is still sidelined with a groin injury. Seattle’s first preseason game is next Thursday.

MLB:

San Francisco shut out the Diamondbacks 1 to Zip yesterday to get the 4 game series win. A solo shot from Lamonte Wade Jr was all they needed. The Giants have won 7 of their last 10 and are 2 and half games behind the Dodgers, with a game and half lead in the Wildcard. It’s a 2 game series against the As in Oakland tomorrow afternoon.

The Mariners beat the Angels 5 to 3 last night surviving a dominant performance from Shohei Ohtani who left with hand tightness after pitching 4 scoreless innings. He also hit his 40th home run. Seattle has a game and a half lead on the Halos. They’re back at it today in Anaheim. First pitch is at 6:38.

Soccer:

The Portland Timbers take on Monterey tonight at 7 in the round of 32 knock-out stage of the League’s Cup.

Local:

The Elks took down the Drifters 10 to 2 last night, breaking the game open with a 6-run 3rd inning. Bend wins the series and heads to Cowlitz tonight for a weekend series with the second place Black Bears who have won 9 in a row. First pitch from Story field is 6:35 tonight.

The Mt Bachelor Gravity Race Downhill Mtn Bike Series is today.

The Ragnar Trail Race is at Mt Bachelor today and tomorrow (Fri/Sat)

The Bend North Little League Softball team is at the Little League World Series in North Carolina. Their first game will be Monday morning at 7 our time.
