OSU-'preserving Pac 12', Seahawks RB Walker Back At Camp

College Football:

Oregon State president Jayathi Murthy released a statement Friday addressed to OSU community members saying the university ‘continues to believe that preserving the Pac-12 is in the best interests of OSU student-athletes and the remaining universities, and so we are doing everything in our control to stabilize and rebuild the conference.’

The statement went on to say updates would be provided.

An Oregon legislator told KBND News this weekend of the concern over the financial implication the conference split has for Oregon State.

Meanwhile it seems the most likely scenario is for merging the Mountain West conference…schools like Boise State and UNLV with the four remaining in the Pac 12 as the vote to add Stanford and Cal to the ACC is apparently not there. There is also a longer shot for the Pac 12 to combine with the American Athletic Conference…that includes Alabama Birmingham and South Florida, and several Texas teams.

The 2023 season is 3 weeks away for the Ducks and Beavers, both squads held scrimmages over the weekend.

NFL:

The Seattle Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker III, who has been out since early in camp with a groin injury returned to practice Saturday, bringing positive news to the team that is feeling good about the running back situation early in camp. The Seahawks are off today and resume training camp tomorrow preparing for Dallas coming to Lumen Field Saturday night.

MLB:

The Mariners lost their 6 series win streak, falling 5 to 3 to Baltimore in 10 innings yesterday. They’re a game and half out of a wild card spot behind Toronto. Next Seattle is in Kansas City tor a series against the Royals starti today at 5:10.

The Giants are 8 and a half games behind the Dodgers now after winning 3 to 2 yesterday to avoid the sweep by the Rangers. San Francisco continues to scuffle losing 6 of their last 10 but are still in 2nd in the wildcard by a game and a half, eight games above .500 at 63 and 55. Inter-league play continues…Tampa is at Oracle Park tonight. The Rays are 2nd in the  AL East. First pitch is at 6:45.
