Beavs' Uiagalelei, Ducks' Nix On Unitas QB Watchlist

College Football:

Fresh off getting the starting nod at quarterback Oregon State’s DJ Uiagalelei has been named to the preseason watch list for the Unitas Golden Arm Award. The trophy is given to the nation’s top upperclassmen quarterback. The Beavs first game is next Sunday, September 3rd.

Oregon quarterback Bo Nix is also on the Unitas watchlist. The Ducks wrapped Fall camp yesterday. The team will have a day off today, and then resume game week practices starting tomorrow. Oregon’s season opener is next Saturday, September 2nd.

NFL:

The Seattle Seahawks have re-signed Defensive End Jordan Ferguson and waived running back Bryant Koback. Ferguson is back in camp to shore up the D line…while Koback is injured and didn’t play in the Seahawks game last Saturday. The final preseason tune-up is Saturday in Green Bay.

Reports suggest the San Francisco 49ers have named Sam Darnold their backup QB to starter Brock Purdy. That means the 9ers could be looking at trading former number three overall pick Trey Lance who missed most of last season with an ankle injury.  San Francisco’s final preseason game is tomorrow night against the Chargers.

MLB:

Seattle lost  5 to 4 in 10 innings to Chicago last night, snapping the eight game win streak. The Ms finish their road trip going 8 and 2, staying a half game behind Houston for both the 2nd wild card spot and 2nd place in the AL West. The Mariners are back at T-Mobile Park tomorrow to take on the Royals.

The Giants scored three runs in the 10th to get past Philadelphia 8 to 6 yesterday. The win has them tied with Arizona and Cincinnati for the third spot in the Wild Card, and a tie with the Diamondbacks in the NL West. They're off today and back in SF tomorrow to host Atlanta for the weekend.
