College Football:

Oregon head coach Dan Lanning told his media availability he expects the usual start to a season opener as far as managing expectations but said he wants his team to create explosive plays on offense and takeaways on defense. Some of the defensive players are still getting healthy. Hear more from Lanning on the Oregon Coaches show tonight at 7 on KBND. Saturday’s pregame starts at 10 leading up to kick off at Noon against Portland State and then all the reaction in the post-game. A programming note for KBND Financial Focus will air Sunday at 1.

Oregon State coach Jonathon Smith told his media press conference he’s happy with the current health of his players being mostly free from injury. Looking ahead towards San Jose State he acknowledged the challenges of playing on the road to start the season but said it’s a good test. He admitted the advantage the Spartans have with a game under their belts. That was a loss to USC last Saturday. Kick off is Sunday at 12:30

NFL:

The Seattle Seahawks cut down to their 53 player roster yesterday. All this year’s draft picks made the team, along with two undrafted free agents. The rookies and 2nd year players make up 20 of the 53.

In San Francisco…The biggest name not on the final 53 is Defensive End Joey Bosa who is on the Reserved/Did Not Report list as he remains in a contract hold-out

MLB:

The Giants nearly no-hit Cincinnati last night. Pitcher Alex Cobb was one out away when he gave up an RBI double for the only Reds run. San Francisco's 6-1 victory and the Diamondbacks loss moves them back into 2nd in the NL West, and back into the last Wildcard spot. S F goes for the series sweep today. Game 3 against the Reds is at 12:45.

Seattle threatened in the 9th but came up short against Oakland last night managing only 2 hits in the 3 to 1 loss. That drops the Mariners into a 3 way tie for first in the AL West with Texas and Houston. Game 3 As vs Ms First pitch is at 1:10 today.

Soccer:

The Portland Timbers try to get back in the win column against Real Salt Lake tonight at 7:30.

Local:

A Fundraiser for MVHS Water Polo is tonight at Silver Moon Brewing with live music.
