Ducks' RB Whittington Out For Season...Blazers' Brogdon Thinks He'll Stay In Portland

College Football:  

Ducks coach Dan Lanning said at yesterday’s media availability that he thinks Running Back Noah Whittington is done for the season. The junior suffered a leg injury during the Colorado game. Coach Lanning believes they have enough depth at running back to overcome Whittington’s absence.  Number 8 Oregon is preparing for number 7 Washington next Saturday the 14th in Seattle. Lanning also said several coaches would be making recruiting trips Thursday and Friday.

Oregon State will look for more balance on offense as its rushing game has been consistent but QB D.J. Uiagalelei has regressed a little in the last two games. The 4 and 1 Beavers are back on the road at Cal Saturday night against a Bears team coming off a surprise win over Arizona State. Cal Coach Justin Wilcox isn’t yet announcing which quarterback will start.

NBA: 

Day two of the Portland Trail Blazers Training camp. Malcolm Brogdon spoke to Blazers media saying he expected to stay with the team despite trade rumors. The first Blazers’ pre-season game is a week from tonight.

NFL:

Seattle’s Rookie cornerback Devon Witherspoon was named NFC Defensive Player of the Week after his  performance in Monday night’s win over the Giants that included a 97-yard interception return for a touchdown. He also had two sacks and seven tackles. The 3 and 1 Seahawks have a bye this week. 

San Francisco’s do-everything running back Christian McCaffery was named the NFC Offensive Player of the Week after his four touchdowns in the win over Arizona. McCaffery is having an MVP level year through the first quarter of the season. The 4 and 0 49ers host Dallas Sunday night.
