Trail Blazers Lose Opener...Ducks' Nix Up For Campbell Trophy

Basketball:

NBA- The Trail Blazers dropped their season opener in Los Angeles against the Clippers 123 to 111 last night …but the game really wasn’t as close as that. Malcolm Brogdon led Portland off the bench with 20 points. 

College Football:  

Oregon State Athletics will hold its induction ceremony for the 2023 Hall of Fame Class on Friday, November 10th. This year’s class includes the 2006 softball and 2016 women's basketball teams, former Athletic Director Bob De Carolis, former head football coach Mike Riley, men’s basketball player Brent Barry, football’s Mike Hass,  Steven Jackson, and Alexis Serna, gymnast Mandi Rodriguez, and volleyball’s Rachel Rourke. That will be the night before the Beavers next home game against Stanford. 

…Number 11 Oregon State is at Arizona this Saturday Night. 

The National Football Foundation (NFF) and College Hall of Fame has announced Oregon quarterback Bo Nix as one of 16 finalists for the Campbell Trophy, college football's scholar-athlete award for combined academic success, football performance and leadership. Nix is the only Pac 12 player on the list.

Number 8 Oregon is in Salt Lake City Saturday against 13th ranked Utah. Kick-off is at 12:30 on KBND. 

NFL: 

The injury bug continues to bite the Seahawks. Pass rusher Uchenna Nwosu is having season-ending pectoral surgery after getting hurt in the win against Arizona. Now the team has signed edge rusher Frank Clark to replace Nwosu. The 8th year veteran played his first four seasons with Seattle. The Seahawks host the Browns this Sunday. 

There’s been a lot of talk over the concern for San Francisco losing two straight after starting 5 and 0. Speculation is what the 49ers will do to level up ahead of Tuesday’s trade deadline. Quarterback Brock Purdy missed practice yesterday after being in concussion protocol. San Francisco hosts the Bengals this Sunday.

High School- Football 5A Coaches Poll has Mountain View ranked 3rd, Summit 5th, and Caldera 9th in the state.

Volleyball: 5A state playoffs begin Saturday. The OSAA released matchups yesterday… with Summit taking on Churchill, Mountain View against Wilsonville and Bend vs Silverton. Crook County plays Philomath in 4A, Sisters is in the 3A bracket Saturday,
