College Football:

The season’s first Playoff Rankings were released Tuesday. 

The Ducks come in at number six, right behind Washington. The fifth ranked Huskies being the only blemish on Oregon’s record. Oregon State is 16th.

U of O Defensive back Tysheem Johnson is the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week and quarterback Bo Nix was named Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week, the second time Nix got the nod. Johnson had two interceptions, and Nix leads the nation with a 78.3 pass completion percentage… The 7 and 1 Ducks take on California back at Autzen this Saturday. Hear from head coach Dan Lanning tonight on the Oregon Football Coach's Show starting at 7:05 here on KBND.

Also yesterday, Beavers quarterback DJ Uiagalelei was put on the list for the Davey O'Brien Quarterback Class of 2023, making him a candidate for the O'Brien National Quarterback Award… The 6 and 2  Beavs have a high-profile game in Colorado this Saturday night.

Number 5 Washington is on the outside looking in at the top 4 spots, but a lot can, and probably will happen in a month … The Huskies will have a top 25 matchup against number 20 USC this Saturday.                       

NFL: 

The trading deadline passed yesterday.

Seattle’s trade for Defensive Lineman Leonard Williams should help shore up a defense ranked in the middle of the league. The Seahawks sent a couple of draft picks to the Giants in exchange for the 8th year pro.

San Francisco is getting 2020 Defensive Rookie of the Year Chase Young from the Washington Commanders in exchange for a 2024 third-round pick. The Defensive End will join Nick Bosa on what could be a dominant defensive front. Young and Bosa were teammates at Ohio State. 

Basketball:

NBA- The Trail Blazers take on Detroit this afternoon. After the win in Toronto, Portland is hoping rookie point guard Scoot Henderson can build on his 11 point, 7 assist performance while cutting down turn-overs. Henderson told the media afterwards he felt like the game hit the reset button for him, after a rocky first three games. Tip-off against the Pistons is at 4 today.
