Blazers Win...Beavers and Ducks FB honors

NBA:

The Trail Blazers beat Detroit 110 to 101 yesterday after a big rally in the third quarter. The Blazers hung on to win their 2nd in a row. And this season a two game winning streak may be something to cheer about… Shaedon Sharpe led the way with 29 points. Jerami Grant put in 24. Deandre Ayton had another double double with 16 points to go with 11 rebounds. Scoot Henderson left the game in the 3rd quarter with an ankle sprain. It will be evaluated today. Tomorrow is the first game of the NBA Cup tournament. Portland hosts Memphis.

College Football:

Oregon wide receiver Troy Franklin is on the Maxwell Award watch list. It’s for the most outstanding player in college football. Quarterback Bo Nix is also on the watch list. The Number 6 Ducks take on California at Autzen this Saturday. 

Oregon State offensive lineman Tanner Miller has been nominated for the Burlsworth Trophy, given annually to the most outstanding football player who began his career as a walk-on. Also offensive lineman Taliese Fuaga is one of 12 semifinalists for the Lombardi Award, going to a top Lineman or linebacker in the country.

The 16th ranked Beavers are at Colorado Saturday night.                  

NFL: 

A report says the 49ers were trying to deal for a cornerback but the deal didn’t get reported to the league in time. The New York Giants were supposed to notify the league of the proposed trade but missed Tuesday’s deadline. San Francisco looks to snap the three game losing streak as they head to Jacksonville Sunday .  

Seattle hopes its trade for Defensive Lineman Leonard Williams pays off. The Seahawks face a Baltimore team that has won three in a row and sits in first place in the AFC North.

Basketball:

Portland won’t be getting a WNBA team soon. The league said in a letter that due to planned renovations at the Moda Center during consecutive Summers the timing to expand to Portland isn’t right.
