Ducks' Nix Gets More Honors...Trail Blazers In-Season Tournament Tonight

College Football:

Oregon quarterback Bo Nix has been named the Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week for the third time this season. Nix was also named a semifinalist for the Maxwell Award, given to the most outstanding player in college football. Nix is one of three from the Pac-12 along with Washington’s Michael Penix Jr., and USC’s Caleb Williams. Nix threw for a season-high 412 yards and four touchdowns in the win against USC. The 6th ranked Ducks are in Tempe Saturday afternoon against Arizona State.

Beavers Running Back Damien Martinez was also nominated for Pac 12 offensive player for his four touchdown performance this past weekend. Oregon State is looking forward to their first top-10 matchup since 2000 on Saturday afternoon when the Beavs host the number 5 Huskies in the season’s final home game.

College Football Playoff rankings will be released this afternoon.

NFL:

Seattle has a tough stretch of games ahead over the next four weeks playing the 49ers twice along with Dallas. This week the Seahawks are on the road at Los Angeles where reports say Rams QB Matthew Stafford could be making his return.

The reports of the 49ers demise are premature…After San Francisco’s blowout win, many experts have them back near the top of the NFL Power rankings, behind the Chiefs and the Eagles. It’s a big stretch of four games for the 49ers also, starting with Tampa this week, and the Eagles sandwiched between those Seahawks meetings.

Basketball:

NBA:

Portland stands at 3 and 6 on the early season. Tonight is another Group Stage match for the in-season tournament. The Trail Blazers take on a Utah team who is also off to a slow start at 3 and 7. Both teams are 1 and 0 in the group standings. Tip-off against the Jazz is at 6.

CBB-The Oregon State Men are 2 and 0 and after a one-point win over Troy on Friday. Today the Beavers have Appalachian State at Gill Coliseum to wrap up the three-game seasoning opening home-stand. Tip-off is at 7.

Local:

The Summit Boys and Girls Water Polo teams took 3rd place in the state championships.
