Oregon offensive coordinator Will Stein is one of five finalists for the 2023 Broyles Award. The announcement for the top assistant coach in college football will be made next week. Oregon’s offense is at or near the top of all statistical categories. Junior Center Jackson Powers-Johnson is the Pac 12 offensive Lineman of the week for the second time this season. The Ducks only allowed 5 sacks all season. Quarterback Bo Nix, and Defenders Jordan Burch and Matayo Uiagalelei were also nominated. Nix is the odds-on favorite to win the Heisman Trophy.

Amid the fallout of coach Jonathon Smith leaving for Michigan State are rumors of players potentially entering the transfer portal next week to join Smith in East Lansing including freshman quarterback Aidan Chiles. Oregon State interim head coach Kefense Hynson will coach the team in the Beavers’ bowl game, which may be the Independence Bowl in Mid December. Bowl selections will be announced Sunday. Former player and assistant coach Bronco Mendenhall’s name has been mentioned as a possible candidate for the head job.

NFL:

San Francisco is heading to Philadelphia this week for a possible NFC Championship Game preview. The 10 and 1 Eagles are undefeated at home this season but are underdogs in this matchup against the 8 and 3 49ers. Veteran defensive back Anthony Averett worked out for the team yesterday as the 9ers deal with injuries on defense and special teams. Guard Spencer Burford practiced yesterday after missing the Seattle game with a knee injury.

The Seahawks are underdogs at Dallas Thursday night…A game which coach Pete Carrol describes as a ‘huge opportunity.’ Seattle is 6 and 5 after losing two straight…putting them last in the NFC wildcard standings in a jumble with five other teams.
