OSU Names Defensive Coordinator...Blazers' Henderson Nominated

College Football:

Oregon State football head coach Trent Bray announced Keith Heyward as the Beavers new defensive coordinator. Heyward played cornerback for OSU from 1997 to 2000, and was the secondary coach from 2008 to 2011. He mostly recently was on the Las Vegas Raiders coaching staff.

Wide receiver Silas Bolden announced Monday he’s leaving Corvallis. The junior caught 54 passes for 746 yards and five touchdowns last season… and had a punt return TD.  He suffered a hamstring injury in the Sun Bowl loss against Notre Dame.

Basketball:

NBA-

The Trail Blazers are 9 and 23 and suffering through early season struggles with injury and inexperience. Rookie Scoot Henderson has been playing well of late and earned some recognition this week in the form of being nominated as a Western Conference player of the week. The point guard has scored in double figures in each of his last five games including a double-double in points and assists in two of the contests. He led the Blazers in scoring in Monday’s loss in Phoenix. Henderson should get more support from Shaedon Sharpe after playing limited minutes against the Suns after missing the previous five games with a thumb injury. Portland is just underway on a seven game road trip stopping in Dallas today and Friday. They match up against the Mavericks starting at 5:30
