Number 7 ranked Oregon State took out Minnesota 6-1 yesterday to run their record to 4 and 0 in the season opening weekend in Surprise, Arizona. The Beavers travel to Arlington Texas to play Texas Tech tomorrow (10 AM)

NBA:

The Trail Blazers have 28 games left in their season. The team needs to make a decision on several players it will be evaluating including guard Malcolm Brogdon, and center Deandre Ayton. At 15 and 39 the Blazers are headed for another lottery draft pick. Portland’s season resumes Friday.

College Hoops:

The Oregon State Women moved up to number 9 in the associated press Top 25 after their weekend split with UCLA and USC. OSU is tied for second in the Pac 12 with the Trojans.

NFL:

Seattle guaranteed quarterback Geno Smith’s contract last week. The next date to keep an eye on is March 18th, when he could possibly be traded. If he’s not he will likely stay with the team to be the projected starter next season. Wide Receiver DK Metcalf also had his contract guaranteed. The Seahawks are reportedly expected to hire recently retired Baltimore Ravens linebacker Josh Bynes as a defensive assistant.

College Sports:

The Pac 12 announced Teresa Gould will be its new commissioner. She’s the first female commissioner of a power five conference. Of course, the fate of the league is still unknown as only Oregon State and Washington State will remain after this academic year ends.

MLB:

Spring training is officially underway. The Giants and Mariners will hold their First full-squad workouts today… Cactus League games start Saturday for Seattle and San Francisco.
