(New York, NY) -- The opening bell rings this morning to kick off a fresh trading week after stocks closed higher on Friday. The trading session saw the Dow Jones Industrial Average close above 50-thousand for the first time ever, capping what was a volatile week on Wall Street. The blue chip index surged more than 12-hundred points as technology shares rebounded after several days of heavy selling. At the closing bell, the Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 12-hundred-six points to 50-115. The S&P 500 rose 133 points to 69-32. The Nasdaq climbed 490 points to 23-031.

(Washington, DC) -- The government's monthly jobs report for January comes out this week. Normally, it would have been released on Friday, but was delayed because of the partial government shutdown that ended last week. The Bureau of Labor Statistics says the report will now come out on Wednesday. Most analysts are expecting to see the addition of 55-thousand new jobs, versus the 50-thousand created the month prior.
>>Consumer Sentiment Holds Steady In February
(Ann Arbor, MI) -- Consumer sentiment is holding steady this month. The University of Michigan's early reading for February showed change little from January and remains about 20 percent below one year ago. Survey officials noted overall sentiment remains low with widespread concerns about high prices. Year-ahead inflation expectations fell from four-percent last month to three-and-a-half percent this month.
>>Regulators Expand Probe Into 1M Ford F-150 Trucks
(Washington, DC) -- Federal regulators are expanding an investigation into over one million Ford F-150 pickup trucks after reports of safety issues related to the vehicles' transmissions. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said it received numerous complaints about unexpected transmission downshifts that came without warning. Drivers reported the issue was often accompanied by a temporary rear-wheel lockup or skidding that increases the risk of a crash. The probe covers model years 2015 to 2017 F-150 trucks equipped with 6R80 transmissions. NHTSA's investigation comes after a preliminary evaluation it opened in March 2025.
>>SF Teachers On Verge Of Striking
(San Francisco, CA) -- San Francisco teachers are on the verge of walking off the job. Teachers were set to strike this morning, but Mayor Daniel Lurie on Sunday called for an additional three days of negotiating between the school district and teachers union before any strike may be called. United Educators of San Francisco said they reached agreement Saturday on one of several divisive issues, but not enough to head off a threatened strike. The two sides remain at odds on pay raises and other issues.
>>Some Progress In Month Long NYC Nurses Strike
(New York, NY) -- The end of a month-long nurses strike in New York City could be close. Both the nurses union and officials for the three hospitals involved in the walkout were at the bargaining table Sunday and said they are inching closer to an agreement. Both sides, however, seem to remain far apart on pay raises for the 15-thousand nurses who have been off the job since early January.
>>BMW North America To Recall Over 87K Vehicles
(Undated) -- The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said BMW North America is recalling over 87-thousand vehicles in the U.S. The recall is due to the possibility the engine starter may overheat, causing a fire risk. The auto regulator said Saturday dealers will replace the engines starter for free.
