>>Ahead Of The Bell 

(New York, NY)  --  The opening bell rings this morning after stocks closed higher on Wall Street yesterday with the Dow Jones Industrial Average hitting a fresh record.  Technology shares gave markets a boost with Oracle, Nvidia and Broadcom extending their recent gains.  Nexstar Media Group and Tegna each climbed over eight percent after President Trump said he now supports their merger.  At the closing bell, the Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 20 points to 50-136.  The S&P 500 added 32 points to 69-64.  The Nasdaq climbed 207 points to 23-238.

 

>>Discord Announces New Age Verification System For Users

(Undated)  --  Discord is rolling out a new age verification system.  Starting in early March, the communication platform will begin shifting all users to a "teen-appropriate experience" by default, with more restricted content settings.  Users will need to submit a video for facial age estimation or a form of ID to move out of the limited experience.  The new features come as online platforms are being criticized for how they're protecting young users and rolling out age checks to access certain features.  

 

>>Hims & Hers Pulls GLP-1 Knockoff

(San Francisco, CA)  --  Hims & Hers is pulling its weight loss pill off the market after legal threats from pharma manufacturer Novo Nordisk.  The company had offered a cheaper copycat version of Novo Nordisk's Wegovy GLP-1 medication.  On Friday, the FDA also threatened legal action against the company.  In response, Hims & Hers announced Saturday they would no longer offer their version.

 

>>SpaceX Prioritizes 'City' On The Moon 

(Brownsville, TX)  --  SpaceX is shifting its focus to prioritize building a "self-growing city" on the moon.  Elon Musk shared a post on X over the weekend explaining that "the overriding priority is securing the future of civilization and the Moon is faster."  The decision comes as the U.S. faces intense competition from China to return humans to the moon this decade.  Despite the shift in focus, SpaceX still plans to start on Musk's goal of establishing a city on Mars and is reportedly targeting March 2027 for an uncrewed lunar landing. 

 

>>NYC Nurses Potentially Heading Back To Work

(New York, NY)  --  Thousands of New York City nurses could soon be heading back to work.  Nurses at the Montefiore and Mount Sinai hospital systems said Monday they have reached tentative agreements to end their strike, which has entered its fifth week.  Over ten-thousand nurses within the two systems could be back on the job as early as Valentine's Day if members ratify the new agreements.  The new deals give nurses a 12 percent pay increase over three years, better health benefits and safe staffing levels.  Over four-thousand nurses within the New York-Presbyterian hospital system remain on the picket lines, saying no deal has been reached with them.  Their negotiations remain ongoing, with safe staffing levels being the main sticking point.

 

>>Gas Prices Tick Up

(Undated)  --  Gas prices are starting to creep up.  Triple-A puts today's national average at two-dollars and 92-cents a gallon.  That's up two-cents from yesterday.  California has the highest prices at the pump at four-49.  Oklahoma drivers are paying the least at two-34.
