(New York, NY) -- Wall Street closed mixed Friday to cap a losing week. Stocks struggled for direction after the consumer price index came in lighter than expected. AI concerns rattled the market this week with all three major averages down about one percent. Markets will be closed for Presidents Day on Monday. At the closing bell, the Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 48 points to 49-500. The S&P 500 added three points to 68-36. The Nasdaq lost 50 points to 22-546.

(New York, NY) -- A new report says Americans fronted the cost of tariffs. Data from the Federal Reserve Bank of New York shows American consumers and companies paid almost 90-percent of the cost of President Trump's tariffs through late 2025. A report from the nonpartisan Tax Foundation shows the tariffs amounted to a tax increase of one thousand dollars per household in 2025. Households are expected to pay another 13-hundred dollars in 2026. The Tax Foundation analysis says the tariffs are the largest U.S. tax increase since 1993.

(Washington, DC) -- Consumer prices rose less than expected in January. The Labor Department reported the consumer price index showed the core CPI -- excluding food and energy -- rose three-tenths percent for the month. Meanwhile, the monthly figure for headline inflation put the annual rate at two-point-four percent. The slightly cooler than expected reading helped boost the outlook for a Federal Reserve interest rate cut later in the year.

(Burbank, CA) -- Warner Brothers Discovery is reconsidering an amended sales offer sent last week by Paramount Skydance. According to Bloomberg Warner Bros is currently a partner with Netflix and it could initiate another bidding war. Contract terms seem favorable and it offers to cover two-point-eight billion dollars in penalties for breaking the Netflix contract, will guarantee financial backing if the deal doesn't close by the end of this year and other incentives. Warner Bros is obligated to give Netflix first rights to match Paramount's new offer.

Data from Zillow shows the typical apartment rent now tops 17-hundred dollars after rising 30-percent in the last five years. Zillow named it the "singles tax" after finding the national average singles pay costs them an extra ten-thousand dollars a year. New Yorkers are paying the most with apartment rents hovering around four -grand a month which results in singles tax of over 23-thousand a year. San Jose follows, with a typical rent of over 32-hundred a month and a singles tax of over 19-thousand dollars a year.
>>SpaceX's Starlink Gets Approval For Satellite Internet In Vietnam
(Undated) -- Vietnam's government is allowing SpaceX to launch its Starlink satellite internet service in the country. State media reported the news on Saturday. The report said the Ministry of Science and Technology granted Starlink's local unit a license to provide fixed and mobile satellite internet services. The company was also granted a license to use radio frequencies and radio equipment. Last year, the Vietnam government said it would allow SpaceX to operate its internet service on a trial basis.
