BEND, OR -- The top candidate for Central Oregon Community College's presidential opening has pulled out. Dr. Tony Miksa withdrew his name from consideration due to a death in the family. His father-in-law passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, and his wife wants to remain close to her mother in Illinois. The COCC board will meet on Friday to discuss next steps in the search.
This is the second time in a year COCC has had to re-start presidential search efforts. The school withdrew an offer to the board's top choice last spring, when they discovered allegations he had assaulted a coworker at a conference.
