PRINEVILLE, OR -- One person was seriously hurt and another suffered minor injuries, in a crash the left their vehicle impaled by a large tree. Crook County deputies responded to the crash on a remote forest road 20 miles north of Prineville, just after 5 p.m. Wednesday.
They say 20-year-old Kylian Beitz lost control of his car on Forest Service Road 27, went down an embankment and hit a downed tree - which came through the windshield. He was taken to St. Charles Prineville with serious injuries. His 19-year-old passenger received minor injuries and refused medical treatment.
Deputies continue to investigate the cause of the crash, but say alcohol, marijuana and speed may have been contributing factors.
