BEND, OR -- National Nurses Week shines a light on the care giving front lines in the medical industry.
Partners in Care employs 55 registered nurses who provide hospice and home health services. Many of these nurses work in the field visiting terminal patients but this week, Marlene Carlson says, they gathered at the Bend headquarters to be recognized by staff. “In recognizing them and acknowledging them we’re really acknowledging their leadership in the care of patients, which is our sole business.” She tells KBND News, “They are on the front lines of our work. They are our mission to alleviate the suffering of people who are going through a chronic illness and eventual death.”
Nurses throughout the region were honored this week, which coincides with the birthday of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing.
