Hiker Rescued From Crooked River Ranch Trail

CROOKED RIVER RANCH, OR -- Crooked River Ranch Fire and Rescue helped save a hiker reportedly in distress on the Scout Camp Trail, Tuesday. A crew responded to the man’s location near the Deschutes River and got him to a plateau in the canyon where an Air Link helicopter could land. He was airlifted to St. Charles Bend, while his wife walked out of the canyon with rescuers.

Officials remind recreators to know the topography of the trail before your hike. The Scout Camp Trail is only a 1.4-mile loop, but there is more than 500 feet of elevation change. Also know the weather, take plenty of water and a charged cell phone.
