BEND, OR -- The Deschutes County Sheriff's Office has issued a Level 1 pre-evacuation notice to the Skyliners Subdivision and Tumalo Lake Lodge, due to a small wildfire burning in brush near the Tumalo Creek drainage. The fire was reported at 3:18 p.m. Friday, about 12 miles west of Bend and a half mile from the Skyliners Subdivision. Forest Service firefighters are on scene where the blaze is moving southwest.

Level 1 means residents should be aware of potential evacuation.

SATURDAY MORNING UPDATE: Initially reported at 10 acres, fire managers say it grew to 125 acres by Friday night and was 10% contained. Saturday morning, a Type 3 Incident Management Team assumed command of what is now being called Incident 215.

SUNDAY AFTERNOON UPDATE: The Cougar Butte Fire grew to 170 acres but is now 100% contained, following burn-out efforts conducted over the weekend. Fire managers lifted pre-evacuation notices and area closures, and crews continue mop-up efforts into the evening.
