Suspect Arrested In Pursuit That Led To RPD Crash

REDMOND, OR -- Police arrested a 34-year-old man, Friday, wanted for leading Redmond officers on a pursuit near the Redmond Airport on June 28. While attempting to set up a perimeter to search for the suspect, Officer Wooten's patrol car was struck on Highway 126 by a pickup unrelated to the criminal investigation, sending him to the hospital.

Jonathon Eveland is charged with Attempt to Elude, Reckless Driving and an outstanding arrest warrant. He was identified as a suspect in the pursuit soon after the crash involving Officer Wooten. A Deschutes County Sheriff's Office K9 helped in the search for Eveland and tracked the suspect to a trailer, although he wasn't found.

Throughout the next day, investigators developed other leads and eventually took him into custody just after 10 a.m., June 30, near St. Charles Redmond.
