Friday Morning Wildfire Update

MADRAS, OR -- Firefighters worked on constructing and improving containment lines on the Emerson Fire, Thursday, five miles northeast of Madras. It’s holding at just over 10,500 acres. As of Friday morning, it's estimated to be 60% contained and crews expect to continue mop up efforts (pictured above).

In the Mt Jefferson Wilderness, the Whitewater (pictured right) Fire was 15% contained at 80 acres, as of Thursday evening. Crews have completed hand lines around most of the perimeter, but rocky cliffs prevent firefighters from establishing lines around the last 15% of the fire.
