LA PINE, OR -- A canoe found submerged near Pringle Falls, west of La Pine, has prompted an investigation by the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office.

The green boat was discovered in Saturday afternoon pinned against a log, with gear still inside, including a lifejacket, packed lunches, and an electric motor that was still running. Investigators don’t know if it was occupied when it became submerged, and say there are no active missing persons reports.

Drones were used to search the area, along with personnel from several agencies, to make sure no one was still in the river.
