MADRAS, OR -- A Jefferson County home and shop were destroyed by fire, late Monday night. Firefighters responded to the home on Southwest Highway 97, south of Madras, just before 11 p.m. and found both buildings engulfed in flames.

Crews acted quickly and extinguished the blaze, but the buildings were a total loss. No one was home at the time and there were no injuries. The Red Cross is helping the two adults and one child impacted by the fire.
