SALEM, OR -- Governor Kate Brown confirmed members of the newly formed Wildfire Council, this week, including two local officials. The council is charged with evaluation national and global best practices in fire prevention and management, and will make recommendations for future state changes.
Bend Mayor Sally Russell and Bend Fire Captain Tricia Connolly will join other members at the Council’s first meeting on Monday, in Salem. The Governor's office says the Council brings together experts "whose work has environmental, health and economic intersections with wildfire." It was created by a January executive order.
