Wild Turkey Leads to Death of Motorcyclist

MORO, OR -- woman was killed Sunday on Highway 97 in Sherman County, after her motorcycle collided with a wild turkey.


According to Oregon State Police, the Junction City woman was southbound on 97, just north of Moro at about 11:30 Sunday morning. The bird flew into a passing commercial truck, then struck 55-year-old Vanesa Gunther. Her motorcycle traveled across the highway and hit the guardrail. Gunther was pronounced dead at the scene and the highway was closed for several hours.
