BROTHERS, OR -- Detectives continue work to identify a body found in a burned-out pickup, near Mahogany Butte. Fire crews responded to the scene, Friday afternoon, 45 miles southeast of Bend. Forest Service law enforcement discovered the remains, prompting a response by Sheriff’s Deputies and the Deschutes County Medical Examiner’s office.

Investigators worked through Saturday collecting evidence in an attempt to find the cause of the fire. Due to the extreme damage, they were unable to determine the color of the truck or the license plate, saying only that it was a 2011 Dodge Crew Cab. The state Medical Examiner's office is now helping to identify the person. Foul play is not suspected, but the investigation continues.
