Foul Play Suspected After Body Found Near Sunriver

SUNRIVER, OR -- An autopsy is expected today on remains found in the woods west of Sunriver. A camper discover the decomposing body Sunday, alongside a Forest Service Road. "There's not a campground," says Deschutes County Sheriff's Sergeant William Bailey, "You have a couple major Forest Roads that travel from Sunriver; one going up to, headed towards Mount Bachelor, another one headed up to the lakes, near Cultus Lake where it comes out on Century Drive. And so, in the summer time, we do see a lot of people recreating and camping in that area."

investigators are working to determine if anyone in the area is missing, "We may have to expand that out into Oregon, and the pacific Northwest, in an effort to identify this person." The cause of death hasn't been determined, but Bailey says it's suspicious, "I can't release specific information regarding the case, but our detectives did locate evidence at the scene that lead them to believe foul play occurred." He tells KBND News, "I think we'll know more after the autopsy, and it'll give us, hopefully, identity, and a direction to go."
