K-9 Helps Arrest Man Who Ran From Traffic Stop

TERREBONNE, OR --  Just before 8-o’clock last night a sheriff’s deputy stopped a vehicle in the 20-thousand block of NW Smith Rock Way. The man driving the vehicle stopped, got out and ran away.  The deputy chased the man but lost sight of him near buildings east of the stop location.  911 dispatch advised the vehicle was stolen out of Lane county.  A Deschutes county K-9, “Brolo” was brought to the scene and by 8:55 located the subject hiding in a large brush pile. 23-year old James Derrick Freeman of Lebanon was taken into custody without incident.  Freeman is jailed on two outstanding felony warrants and Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle and Attempting to Elude.
