BEND, OR -- A new book by former Oregon Congressman Les AuCoin is the focus of a presentation at Roundabout Books in Bend this evening. AuCoin says he and a younger brother were raised from a young age in Redmond by his mother, after his father abandoned the family. He says he was motivated to write the book about his difficult childhood, AuCoin served in the Oregon House before becoming the first Democrat elected to the First Congressional District in Northwest Oregon in the 70’s. AuCoin’s memoir is titled, “Catch And Release: An Oregon Life In Politics.”
