Oregon Population Growth Slowing

PORTLAND, OR -- The booming growth rate of Oregon's population is starting to slow. Charles Rynerson with P-S-U's Population Research Center says preliminary population numbers show Oregon's population has increased just one percent in the last year. Since 2010, Oregon added 400-thousand residents. The state's rate of job growth is slowing and that's bringing fewer people into Oregon. Other reasons for the lower growth rate are the high cost of housing, lower birth rates and deaths of baby boomers.
