Bend Police Using Drones To Fight Crime

BEND, OR -- The Bend Police Department has been using hi-tech drones to help with their law enforcement duties. Deputy Police Chief Paul Kansky says drones are used in a variety of ways such as helping arrest suspects. He says drones are also used to keep police safe with a 360-degree view of an area where there may be an armed suspect. Kansky says drones are also a valuable tool during search and rescue missions. Training for police using drones includes reviews of state and federal laws about what can and cannot be done with the drones.
