Bend Police Warn Of New Phone Scam

BEND, OR -- The Bend Police Department has issued a phone scam alert about a man claiming to be a Captain with the department. The man has a southern accent who calls from a spoofed number that shows caller ID as being from a number associated with Bend Police. The man demands payment for unpaid court fines or says there is a warrant for the person’s arrest.  Bend Police remind everyone that no government agency will ever call you and demand payment for anything over the phone. They also will never ask for payment via gift cards of any kind. If you receive one of these phone scam calls you are asked to file a report with Bend Police.
