Saint Charles Health Hit With Wrongful Death Lawsuit

BEND, OR -- The Family of a Jacksonville woman who died of septic shock has filed a 26-point-5-million dollar wrongful death lawsuit against Saint Charles Health System. 32 year old Casey Galusha-Beck was visiting family in Sisters in January 2017 when she became ill with mastitis, a breast infection associated with breastfeeding. The Bulletin reports the suit says doctors failed to diagnose Galusha-Beck with symptoms of cortisol deficiency, or treat it with hydrocortisone. The lawsuit says despite a test showing a cortisol level of zero, doctors did not administer hydrocortisone. On January 9th 2017 Galusha-Beck had a circulatory collapse that resulted in severe brain damage and she died 8 days later. Saint Charles has declined to comment due to pending litigation.
