BEND, OR -- Parents in Central Oregon whose children don’t have up-to-date immunizations are receiving letters from local health departments reminding them to get children vaccinated. The Supervisor of the Deschutes Communicable Disease Program, Jill Johnson says if immunization records are not up-to-date, children won’t be allowed in school or day care. She says Deschutes county has a high rate of non-medical exemptions for vaccinations. Johnson says to get an exemption parents have to take a required step which includes watching a video about the risks and benefits of vaccines. Exclusion Day is Wednesday February 19th.
