Prineville Bar Named In Wrongful Death Lawsuit

PRINEVILLE, OR -- The estate of a man who was killed in a drunk driving wreck in 2017 and a victim who survived are suing a Prineville Bar. The Bend Bulletin reports the estate of Stephan Mitchell Leader-Bowles is suing Horsehoe Tavern. The suit claims the tavern over-served Justin Bittick on his birthday in 2017. Bittick convinced four people to come to his home to party.  At first Leader-Bowles drove the car but got lost. Bittick convinced him to let him drive but drove at high speed and the vehicle rolled. Leader-Bowles and a passenger Caleb Austin Williams died. Two passengers Alex Shaver and Corrine Hatchell survived as did Bittick. The Leader-Bowles estate is suing Horseshoe Tavern for 1-point-25-million dollars. Passenger Shaver suffered a broken neck and is suing for 900-thousand dollars. Bittick is serving 20 years in prison for manslaughter.
