OSU Extension Urges Home Canners To Test Dial Gauges

CENTRAL OREGON -- The OSU Extension Service is reminding home canners to make sure to test their Pressure Canner Dial Gauge every year. Glenda Hyde is the OSU Extension Health Educator in Central Oregon. She says the Dial Gauge can wear out from what’s called metal fatigue. Hyde says if the Dial Gauge does not work properly it can cause food poisoning. She says home canners can get their Dial Gauge tested for free at any OSU Extension Service office in Central Oregon.  Drop it off and they’ll call when it’s ready for pick up.
