Helt Bill To Ban Flavored Vaping Products Amended

SALEM, OR -- Republican State Representative Cheri Helt worked for months on a bill to ban flavored vaping products because they are popular with kids. A tobacco lobbyist said the state would lose 25-million in taxes by the year 2023 and that cost Helt’s bill votes. But there was another reason the bill lost support…the American Cancer Society. Helt says the society wants all combustibles banned and came out in opposition to her bill. Helt’s bill has been amended to allow flavored vaping products through a tobacco retail licensing program. She says that way if someone sells to a minor they can lose their license.
