BEND, OR -- A 17-year-old Bend girl was seriously injured at Centennial Parking Garage yesterday. Lieutenant Julie McConkey at Bend P-D says the girl was on a skateboard holding onto the mirror of a car being towed up the parking garage by another teenaged girl. For some reason the girl lost her grip and fell and suffered serious injuries. McConkey says the girl was not wearing a helmet but since she’s over 16 she’s not required to wear one. State law however, prohibits people on a non-motorized vehicle, like a skateboard, from clinging to another vehicle.
