Bend Businessman Charged With Fraud

PORTLAND, OR -- A microbrewery equipment company owner in Bend has been charged with fraud.  The  U-S Attorney for Oregon says 48-year-old Matthew Mulder runs a company called WECAN Brewing Systems. They make custom-built microbrew systems, keg washers and other industrial brewing products. Since 2017, he's been selling products to 23 customers, many of them microbrewery owners. He would entice them to make payments by sending photos of nearly completed orders for other customers. He required large down payments and used the money for personal expenses, to pay off loans and pay suppliers. Mulder was indicted for defrauding customers of more than 800-thousand dollars. His trial is set for April in Eugene.
