BEND, OR --  Bend Police Chief Jim Porter is putting off retirement to help the city manage the COVID-19 Pandemic. He had planned to make this Friday his final day following a 42 year career in law enforcement. The Bulletin reports Porter and City Manager Eric King agreed he will stay on the job until at least June 15^th. Porter says he will work with King to deal with operational budget cuts due to an expectation that city tax revenues are going to face a big drop due to the stay at home order and the closure of many businesses.
