COCC, St. Charles Form Partnership To Train CNA's

BEND, OR -- People who work as caregivers or other jobs at Saint Charles can take classes to become a CNA, Certified Nursing Assistant. The non-credit classes will be taught by COCC instructors with clinical instruction by Saint Charles staff. Julie Downing, the Instructional Dean at the college, says the new 2-year pilot program partnership with the hospital is designed to fill a growing demand for CNA’s. She says if hospital classes are full, COCC will continue offering its own CNA credit classes to their students and community members. Downing says the advantage of taking a COCC credit course is that the student can use their financial aid to pay for the training.
