Deschutes County Commission Candidates Clash Over COVID-19

BEND, OR -- The issue of the spike in COVID-19 cases in Deschutes county in recent weeks was one of the questions brought up at a candidate forum Tuesday afternoon. Democrat challenger Phil Chang said Commissioner Phil Henderson attended a reopening protest and said I don’t know how serious this is. Henderson said yes he did attend a rally where working people expressed fear about losing their jobs. He argued he wore a mask before the CDC suggested it and before the county health director wore one. The two candidates also answered questions regarding affordable child care, improving mental health services and efforts to reduce the risk of wildfires.
