Jefferson County residents may be eligible for a grant reimbursement for minimizing fire danger on their property. The Central Oregon Intergovernmental Council (COIC), with the Jefferson County Fire Chiefs, is offering private landowners the opportunity to apply for a flat-rate reimbursement of $500 for treating the land around their homes. The COIC says the goal of this project is to reduce the threat of catastrophic wildfire by reducing hazardous fuels on private lands. To find out more contact your local fire protection district.
