A dead bat found in southeast Bend has tested positive for rabies.  Deschutes County Health says pet owners should make sure their dogs and cats are up to date on their rabies vaccines.  If they get bitten, contact the county’s Environmental Health department.  Rabies affects the central nervous system and exposure is most often through a bite from a rabid animal.
