Today is officially recognized as Indigenous Peoples Day. This spring, Oregon joined 12 other states to recognize the second Monday of October, long known as Columbus Day, as Indigenous Peoples Day. The Legislature’s only Indigenous lawmakers, Rep. Tawna Sanchez and Rep. Teresa Alonso-Leon sponsored the bill.
