Bend Fire and Rescue quickly contained the flames to the kitchen, preventing the blaze from spreading. Investigators say the fire started on the stove, possibly due to an unattended burner or a knob being bumped, igniting food and nearby cupboards. Damage is estimated at $75,000, with no impact to the other unit. Officials emphasize the importance of working smoke alarms, which proved critical in this incident.
